An imperfect visual metaphor

Note: the "New Easy Open Cap!" is... (wait for it): a twist-top!

Why does this remind me of current Republican economic proposals?
The same old thing, simply repackaged in flashy colors and relabeled as "new" and "easy"? (... with an exclamation point, "!")

... on the other hand, the "New Easy Open Cap!" really does work! - twist it, and the jar opens.
This is why the metaphor is "imperfect".
