Just out of curiosity...

... how come coverage of GOP debates - and campaign in general - focuses on trash talk?

Note: I've not watched the debates.
What I glean from news coverage is that Newt & Mitt are saying nasty things about each other.
Are there NO substantive policy issues discussed?
How would they deal with economy? ... with Iran? ... tax policy? ... Afghanistan?

Just asking...
