Iraq's revival boosted as oil production rises to 2.4m barrels a day
From The TimesFebruary 1, 2008
Oil production in Iraq is at its highest level since the US-led invasion of 2003, reaching 2.4 million barrels a day, thanks largely to improved security measures in the north.
Iraq oil production, revenue up in 2007
Published: Jan. 29, 2008, UPI
WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- New data from Iraq's oil export arm finds increased production and high prices raised revenues by 31 percent to $39.8 billion in 2007, compared with 2006.
Now... if someone - ANYONE - would state that restoring Iraq's oil infrastructure to provide viable national revenue were the strategic objective we seek to attain, THEN I'd get behind that person! THEN, we'd know what we're doing there! THEN, there'd be a rather more-than-less measureable achievement!
This truly is good news. YES! Iraq is a country that can finance its own reconstruction... what'll it take to achieve this?
I suspect the answer is something less than political reconciliation... even warring warlords could reach an accommodation to achieve this goal!
Any takers?
