New Mexico in national news!

Provisional ballots to decide NM winner

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Democrats prepared Wednesday to examine nearly 17,000 provisional ballots that will determine a winner in New Mexico's tightly contested presidential caucus.

New Mexico doesn't often make national news, so this is unexpected fun!

We've got 5 electoral votes.
We're not likely to get hit by a hurricane.
I suspect the coyote population is larger than the human.
Our cities and towns have funny names (e.g., "Albuquerque"... could you spell that, please?)

The only recent mention of New Mexico in a national context that I can recall was after our Governor, Bill Richardson, returned from a trip to North Korea. The Capital Gang's Margaret Carlson commented,
I think we should all sleep better tonight knowing that peace is at hand between New Mexico and North Korea.
... and that was back in 2003!

Peace!
