Tornadoes savage Southern states: YOU can help!

American Red Cross Disaster Services responds to disasters such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and fires, or other situations that cause human suffering or create human needs that those affected cannot alleviate without assistance. It is an independent, humanitarian, voluntary organization, not a government agency.

All Red Cross assistance is given free of charge, made possible by the generous contribution of people's time, money, and skills.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, a gift of the American people.

[Full disclosure: I volunteered with American Red Cross Mid-Rio Grande Chapter Disaster Services for several years. Part of my volunteer service was speaking to civic groups - Kiwanis, Rotary, NAACP - to help raise $$. My favorite spiel was the sentence high-lighted above: "American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, a gift of the American people."]
