Hillary Clinton became the official winner of the New Mexico’s February 5 Democratic Caucus on Thursday, defeating Barack Obama by 1,709 votes.
The announcement came nine days after the caucus date.
The official tally gave Clinton 73,105 votes to Obama’s 71,396 votes. Clinton wins 14 delegates while Obama claims 12 in the race for the party’s nominee.
Congratulations to Senator Clinton on her NM win, and to Senator Obama for his close second. The difference of 1709 votes represents about 1.2% of total votes cast.
Congratulations to NM Democrats for braving long lines to make your voices heard!
Lastly, congratulations to the Democratic Party of NM for finally ending the suspense!
(All this for 26 delegates!)
