Yes, W lives in a banana republic

I'd sort of hoped W would be happy just to hold his little economic summit and then go away quietly.
No such luck:
Bush calls for Ohio voter probe
WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- President George W. Bush has asked the U.S. Justice Department to investigate the status of 200,000 newly registered Ohio voters, the White House said.
This after SCOTUS ruled against the Ohio Republican Party:
"... The U.S. Supreme Court last week dismissed a case brought by the Ohio Republican Party in the matter."
[note: this is the Roberts/Alito/Scalia SCOTUS - not some unAmer'cun librul SCOTUS - you know, like when Rehnquist was Chief Justice!]

Apparently W still regards DoJ as his personal political hit squad.
Will DoJ comply with his request???

... stay tuned!

(This is almost as much fun as an old Saturday morning serial: "Will Flash escape? Will Ming the Merciless incinerate Planet Earth?... Tune in next week!!!")

Hope # 1 being unrealized (that would be the hope expressed in lead sentence, above - about W leaving quietly), I now must content myself with Hope # 2:
Maybe Mukasey will remember that what was left of his predecessor's reputation was destroyed by Alberto's involvement in similar shenanigans back in 2006.
Mukasey could even be polite about it:
"I'm sorry, Mr. President, but for the Department of Justice to interfere in State elections at this time would be inappropriate."

Stop the madness!!!
