I grew up in Tulsa, OK, in the '60s -described by Time Magazine at the time as "the buckle of the Bible Belt".
At the time I thought it was a very weird conservative religious town - I got invited to a LOT of Baptist and Methodist Sunday Schools by Jr. High friends.
Oral Roberts' various ministries were prominent.
Looking back, Tulsa in the '60s seems almost liberal compared to what passes for mainstream today.
I mean, at least Jr. High & High School biology classes taught evolution - with nary a peep from the Fundies!
