Needed: BETTER Democrats!

From Huffington Post:
In Their Own Words: Why Dem Senators Screwed Homeowners
Ryan Grim
1 May 2009
Only 45 Senate Democrats voted Thursday to oppose the banking industry and pass legislation aimed at stemming foreclosures. The bill would have allowed bankruptcy judges to allow homeowners who met strict conditions to renegotiate mortgages -- a process known as cramdown. It would have only applied to mortgages entered into before 2009.

Earlier in the week, the measure's lead proponent, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), concluded that banks "frankly own the place."
2006 & 2008 were good election years for Dems...

We need to make 2010 another one: cast out the BlueDogs... (& I'm not hopeful about Specter!)

Alternatively... five (5) Republican senators are retiring:
Bond (R-MO), Brownback (R-KS), Gregg (R-NH), Martinez (R-FL), Voinovich (R-OH).
Work tirelessly to replace 'em with Dems... good Dems!

... and, the following Republican senators are up for re-election in 2010:
Richard Shelby (AL), Lisa Murkowski (AK), John McCain (AZ), Johnny Isakson (GA), Mike Crapo (ID), Chuck Grassley (IA),Jim Bunning (KY), David Vitter (LA),Richard Burr (NC), Tom Coburn (OK), Jim DeMint (SC), John Thune (SD), Bob Bennett (UT).
Who knows - some of these folks might be vulnerable.

Suggestion for my loyal readers in NM: since neither Udall nor Bingaman is up for re-election in 2010, pick a fun Senate race in another state & SUPPORT the Dem alternative!

p.s. NOTE: I can't say that I've a clue about the merits of "cramdown" - who knows, maybe voting agin' this legislation was the right thing to do!... BUT: I'm suspicious when a Nay vote coincides with the desires of the Banking Lobby!
