Spelling is generally quite haphazard in this part of the world. Read Seven Pillars of Wisdom if you don’t believe me, or just note that from Dwyer we are currently attacking (oops, I mean ‘liberating’) Marjeh, Leatherneck is attacking Marjah, and the newspapers are reporting from Marja.

  1. You know, I've noticed that we tend to wind up with phonetic spelling many times when we're dealing with countries with very low literacy rates, themselves. And I'm sure they do feel attacked, rather than liberated.
