Note: it's WINTER in Vancouver - absence of snow is a bit weird.
... on the other hand, it's SUMMER in Rio - so heat wave isn't weird.

There was an El Nino during the Calgary Olympics too and they had to use man made snow while New Mexico was getting a huge snow pack.
