I've not heard from my USMC bud in a couple of days... this after he promised to provide a new mailing address.

The more likely explanation: his internet connection is down/non-existent. This is a verified chronic issue that impacts his email communication.

... BUT: there's always the lurking fear that he'll be listed as a casualty in week-end casualty reports!

... it's a bit worrisome.
