Gee, maybe he read my letter...

[nah... prob'ly not]:
Pope meets abuse victims, vows to protect the young
The Associated Press
VALLETTA, Malta — Pope Benedict XVI met Sunday with sex-abuse victims and told them with tears in his eyes that the Roman Catholic Church would seek justice for pedophile priests and take "effective measures" to protect young people from abuse, the Vatican and victims said.
Benedict expressed his "shame and sorrow" at the pain the men and their families suffered and prayed with them during the meeting at the Vatican Embassy in Malta, the Vatican said.

"He prayed with them and assured them that the Church is doing, and will continue to do, all in its power to investigate allegations, to bring to justice those responsible for abuse and to implement effective measures designed to safeguard young people," the Vatican said in a statement.
Well, it's a start...

... meanwhile, back at the ranch:

  1. Ah! Tom Lehrer! It just doesn't get any better than that. My favorite quote of his:

"Satire died the day they gave Henry Kissinger the Nobel Peace Prize"

    Indeed it did.

  2. I remember that and others from the sixties! Great stuff; nobody currently compares (Colbert and Stewart try and they are wonderful, but there's something lacking...too many years of political correctness that have to be corrected? Hmmm.)

The Pope's effort looks like way too little, way too late, practically wrung out of him. Crocodile tears.
