Prepping us... setting the stage

Gen.: Al-Qaeda may be working harder to attack U.S.
USA Today

WASHINGTON (AP) — Al-Qaeda terrorists may be plotting more urgently to attack the United States to maintain their credibility and ability to recruit followers, the U.S. military commander in charge of domestic defense said Thursday.
Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, chief of the U.S. Northern Command, told reporters he has not seen any direct threats tied to the U.S. presidential elections. But he said it would be imprudent to think that such threats are not there.

They - W's Administration - are just making sure an election-eve terror attack doesn't come as a complete surprise. Note: the General "has not seen any direct threats tied to the U.S. presidential elections"... he just thinks it's a good time to remind us that we need to be VERY AFRAID.

[note: this is part of my delusional conspiracy theory, which - like any good conspiracy theory - continues to be reinforced by current headlines.]

The General cites al Qaeda as the menace. I suspect we'll soon start seeing more references to Hezbollah.

More in "Today's news" to bolster the conspiracy theory, this from Think Progress:
... PERINO: ... About four weeks ago, everyone in this briefing room was asking why President Bush wouldn’t accept a three-week extension.
...
The reason Congress asked for the 21-day extension is because the White House claimed that the expiration of the PAA undermined America’s national security. Yet despite this fear-mongering, conservatives rejected the extension.

Since that time, congressional Democrats have held a series of bipartisan meetings to work out a solution. White House officials have skipped the meetings. “I don’t understand why the White House hasn’t been more active in pushing the solution they want,” said Sen. John Rockefeller (D-WV). “It’s very strange.” House Republicans have also prevented their staffs from attending the meetings.
[emphasis added]
I know why White House officials have skipped the meetings:
W doesn't want the PAA to pass!

... then, when we are attacked by "terrorists" in October, he can blame the Democratic Congress, allowing him to adjourn Congress, cancel the elections, and assume dictatorial power!

Yeah, I know, this is delusional... but don't say you weren't warned!
