Let's see how it plays out.
MSNBC's coverage is the pits.
Chris Matthews is hard to take. He's seriously enamored of McCain. I didn't catch the argument, but he somehow concluded that, "It's hard to believe, but McCain is now positioned to have the best shot at winning the Presidency in November," or words to that effect.
[Update, 5 March]: C&L has the correct Matthew's quote:
Matthews: If you look at the box this year it came in, which is marked “change.” It is ironic that the man who represents the least change is in the solidest position to be the next president right now.Shortly after hearing that, I saw a headline on HuffingonPost.com:
Bush to Endorse McCain at White HouseTo my mind, all the eventual Democratic nominee has to do is repeat - till it gets annoying, and beyond -
"John McCain = 4 more years of W"... the economy looks to be cooperating, too.
Congrats to McCain on sewing up the Republican nomination! (... and, yes, I am very relieved that Huckabee is gone!)
Congrats to Sen Clinton & Sen Obama for their wins tonight (Texas primary still "to close to call"... and I don't know when we're supposed to know result of Texas caucus.)
I'll check final counts in the morning.
To everyone who voted today - Republicans & Democrats alike - THANKS!
