a project

All:
I've been completely floored - in a bad way - by DCCC negative ads targeting Darren White in NM1.

My experience - such as it is - suggests that these are not particularly effective. (If viewer mutes the ads, they look for all the world like ads FOR Darren White!!! - White's name is mentioned - both printed and pronounced - frequently.)

I note that Romero's two (2) failed campaigns against Wilson, and Madrid's single failed campaign against Wilson were rife with "Heather is bad" TV spots... that didn't really work!

My experience - in this instance I'll take a bit more credit, based on 20+ years selling unpopular statistics to engineers - is that selling requires more than just creating a need ("Heather is bad"; "Darren is bad").
It also requires providing a solution... in this case,
"Martin Heinrich is G-d's gift to the electorate!!!"

To combat the evil DCCC influence, I hope to produce a 15-second TV spot promoting Heinrich. I propose to run it on a single channel, one time. (I can't afford any more than this... and am not sure I can afford even this!!!)

The spot:
Picture of Martin & his wife (lifted from campaign website)
Title-over-picture: "Martin Heinrich: Democrat for Congress"
[I voice the words... trust me, I have a wonderful speaking voice!]
Fade to black, with words: "Martin Heinrich: the Congressman New Mexicans deserve!"
[again with me voicing the words]
I've inquired of KOB just exactly how much a 15-second spot would cost.

Help needed:
1. I think I can produce this with Windows Media (I've already got the video part - haven't quite figured out how to do the audio, but it can't be all that hard.)
BUT: if anyone out there has experience/expertise and would like to help - I'll be happy to accept the technical assistance!!!

2. $$$
At this point I've no idea what 15 seconds of airtime costs.
As a retiree, I'm not wealthy.
When I learn the $$$ involved, I'll let y'all know... and start begging.

I'd like to run the spot during 6 o'clock news on Halloween - one station only.

[for what it's worth: if this is semi-affordable, I also have a 15-second pro-Obama spot in mind... but let me not get ahead of myself!]
