Barack Obama added four new proposals to his economic package today, but then said something you don’t usually hear in the final days of a campaign. He told his supporters the nation had lived beyond its means and we had to change that. It marked the end of an era.
During a televised debate in 2006 NM1 campaign, Dem. candidate Patricia Madrid was challenged by incumbent Republican Heather Wilson to guarantee that she - Madrid - wouldn't raise taxes when she got to Washington. Madrid stared, doe-eyed, into the camera for a full minute.
Wilson replayed this embarassment over and over in her TV spots for the rest of the campaign.
Free advice to Dems: if your respected Republican opponent tries to tar you as a "tax-and-spend" liberal, here's your response:
"Tax and spend" is a lot more fiscally responsible than "borrow and spend", which has been the Republican mantra for the past eight years!!!I've suggested this response, and more, previously.
Don't let your respected Republican opponent define the battle-field:
Take it too 'em!!!
