We are the only developed country in the world without universal health coverage.

When shibboleths (e.g., "socialism") trump policy, something is very, very wrong. Recall:
We the people of the United States, in order to... promote the general welfare... do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.The general welfare - not just the welfare of the well-to-do!
