Not an entry-level position

Long ago I remarked that my biggest concern about Obama for President was that - in the words of some pundit - "The Presidency is not an entry-level position."
Given the choice between Obama and ANY Republican, however, I was more than happy to vote for Obama.

Now - can he get his feet under him???
There've been more than a few, er, stumbles so far.

Proving that I need not be consistent:
1. Obama warns of catastrophe if stimulus delayed
Associated Press
Wed Feb 4, 2009
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says the recession will turn into a "catastrophe" if the economic stimulus is not passed quickly.
What happened to "hope above fear"???
The previous Administration played the fear card frequently to get us into some really deep doo-doo.

Back in September Paulson warned us that the world would come to an end if Congress didn't pass what we now know was very poorly conceived TARP legislation immediately!
On the other hand...
2. Senate Lacks Votes to Pass Stimulus
Democrats Trying to Trim $900 Billion Plan to Gain GOP Support

Senate Democratic leaders conceded yesterday that they do not have the votes to pass the stimulus bill as currently written and said that to gain bipartisan support, they will seek to cut provisions that would not provide an immediate boost to the economy.

Okay - here's where I'd like to see President Obama use the fear card... on Republican Senators.
Let 'em know that if they don't support his bill, he'll take to the airwaves to ridicule 'em:
When the economy is booming, what do Republicans recommend?
Tax cuts.
When the economy is tanking, what do Republicans recommend?
Tax cuts.
When "tax cuts" are good for what ails you, no matter what... well, there's a name for that: snake oil.
And the folks that peddle this remedy are snake oil salesmen.

Even Republican governors are clamoring for a stimulus bill based on spending - but the Senate Republicans are sticking to the same failed ideology that got us into this mess.

When America is crying out for relief, Senate Republicans are playing partisan politics.

It's time to get on with the business of the country.
As stated - I don't have to be consistent.
... and, for what it's worth: My taxes are up to date, I don't employ any domestic help, I've received no gifts from lobbyists or think tanks.
I have pretty decent numerical and analytical skills.
I can balance a checkbook.
... and I come pretty cheap.

Make me an offer!
